Well, I personally LOVE it. I don't have a problem with paying for what I actually get to keep.
ArenaNet just found a way to get around 40$ out of me
Can you buy it as a gift, too? (as in, for favoured guildies)

I know while $5 per tab would be a fair price, they would make less money as some people would settle with just 1 extra tab. But if they didn't want to bother with such small deals as $5, why not to make an offer just as fair - sell 2 tabs together for $10! That would be a viable alternative to buying a mule slot, and should cost much less server resources than a whole character slot with ton of character data, bigger inventory, ability to add new equipment bag, and heroes, and even more strain on the servers for all those relogs needed to move stuff around.
... and while I promised myself to not buy more mule slots than I already did, I would buy that - 2 xunlai tabs pack for $10.
So I'm saying the price is a test. If the community buys them for such a sick price, it may mean even more even worse prices in the future - just imagine it becoming the new standard for GW2 - get clear game with very few slots and very small storage - but then you can buy them in online store for $20 per char slot (price updated!) and storage $10 per small tab, that an active player will need to buy like 8 of. With more 'optional' things like this and the game design based on them it may be costing active fans as much as a monthly fee game, but with keeping support and updates of a free game...
Don't let the curse of microtransactions get us in GW2.
How about: boycott ridiculous prices?
Show that we aren't a brainless mass that will buy whatever they add for whatever sick the price is.
Want storage? Want to still support Anet? Buy a mule instead.
|
It's not a test... It's a money making engine.
I expect they will say something along the lines of: "Spend $9.99 in the online store from April 23rd - May 10th and receive a FREE storage pane only available with this promotion!"
The point? A lot of people are going to be stupid enough to shell out $10 to get a free storage pane.
Which in all reality, at least you're only technically paying $5, since you're getting 2 instead of one.
I might even spend $10 for 2 storage panes, if that's going to be the case. But, there definitely won't be more for $10 each.
Then again, I don't even play anymore, so probably not.

My, you're a pleasant fellow.
I'm finding it really funny the amount of people that are up in arms over this. Especially if you don't play any more or think the game is crap, etc. If you enjoy World of Warcraft that much, shouldn't you be trolling those forums?
I think this is a great idea. More server space has to be paid for, so why not let the packrats that will use it (like myself) do the paying? And a bit of a cash injection for Anet won't hurt GW2's development either, IMO.
Also, WRT mule characters vs. extra storage tabs: for me, it's WELL worth the extra expense for the convenience of not having to log off/on/off/on to shuffle stuff around to/from a mule. To each their own, I guess, but I never liked the mule solution.

Anet, you can get out of it if you'll just "admit" you meant 10k and not 10$!
That would be much more reasonable, (100k would also be reasonable), and logical.

LMAO Fail-net strike again
Pay for extra storage (after the addition of 1 free tab)
You can pay $9.99 for the animal menagerie and get basic animals installed there
So the big upcoming update is basically, here is new stuff now get out your credit card And for those that don't use a credit card, I assume the age old problem will still exist that you cannot buy from PLayNC store as it accepts only limited pay sources and doesn't even accept paypal, so you cant actually buy any further content updates so those people miss out yet again.
No sure why I bothered to come back to this game tbh, the sooner Aion is released the better.

yeah, but WoW pulls crap like that all the time-.-
€20 to go bac kto the starting character screen to change appearnace of your toon
€20 to change realm
€10 to change your name
€13 per month subscription
They earn more than 72 countries per year and they still place adds on the forum and the launcher.
only differance is people are used to activision-blizzards methods by now.
Gw however is subscription free to you'd have to see that it makes sense for them to do things like this to keep the servers running`.
been playing Wow more or less as my main game for the last year, and my realm can have as much lag as the gw ones do.

players are going to whine and qq and "you can't buy it later" will become not true.
I can't wait for this update to see what the Managerie offers, a good reason to log in and see what happens. Not going to buy any extra storage tab thou, just going to get the free ones.

Unfortunatly GW gold doesn't pay real life server costs. This isn't a P2P game, this type of expenses are perfectly reasonable. I'd also like to get everything for free but that's not how life works. Although the 10$ fee is somewhat useless when you can buy a mule slot for the same amount, if you don't mind logging in and out, or even more, a whole campaign.
###
I went to the community talk with Regina, Lindsey and the other person I forgot it's name *gee* and wanted to know how will the Equipment Packs work, Regina stated that they could range from 5 to 20 slots (wich I thought it was weird but whatever) and wanted to know if each slot will act like a current storage space, allowing for ONE armor piece, or will it be able to store an entire armor set? And how will it work for weapons? I arrived to late at the discussion to ask that so if someone who was there could answer me that would be great.

This is what happens when you have a no monthly fee business model. They expect everything to be free all the time. It is more harmful than it is good.

This makes me happy (the updates, not the complaints about the updates).
The armor and weapon bag alone will dramatically alter my storage, and my mules. I can clean armors off of one mule (holding sets for three different characters), freeing up fifteen slots on that mule alone. Next, the three armors in storage frees up fifteen more slots, and the ability to put weapons in the bag frees up inventory slots AND slots in thne storage (for books...blech) and phat lewt dropped by unsuspecting critters. If an equipment bag is 10 slots, that turns into five weapons and an armor set, or two armor sets. That's a pretty big chunk of space. If I open up thirty slots combined in and on a mule...that's a lot of extra space.
Not complaining at all. I hope the petting zoo means that I can go tame critter after critter, and go pick which one I feel like walking with that day.
xoxo for the big update, ANet.
